Kirby and The Amazing Mirror is a 2004 action-platformer for the Game Boy Advance that breaks from the series' traditional linear structure in favor of a sprawling, interconnected "Metroidvania" style world.
Story & Premise
The game takes place in the Mirror World, a parallel dimension above Dream Land that has been corrupted by a dark force. After Kirby is split into four differently colored clones by Dark Meta Knight, players must navigate a massive labyrinth to recover eight shards of the shattered Dimension Mirror and rescue the real Meta Knight.
Key Features
- Non-Linear Exploration: Unlike most Kirby games with set levels, the Mirror World is a single giant maze where areas are linked, and bosses can often be tackled in any order.
- Four-Player Co-op: Supporting up to four players via Link Cable, each player can explore the map entirely independently or work together.
- In-Game Cell Phone: Players use a mobile phone to call the other three Kirbys (AI or human-controlled) to their location for help with puzzles or difficult boss fights.
- New Copy Abilities:
- Cupid: Grants wings and a bow for long-range arrow attacks.
- Missile: Transforms Kirby into a steerable missile.
- Smash: Grants Kirby his moveset from Super Smash Bros. Melee.
- Sub-Games: Features three multiplayer-compatible mini-games: Speed Eaters, Crackity Hack, and Kirby's Wave Ride.
